Security Lighting

Examples of Security Lighting

Outdoor security lighting can be used in residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural settings and is often used as a preventative and corrective measure against intrusions or other criminal activity. Security lighting is integral to crime prevention and provides the aid in the detection of intruders, or in some cases simply to increase the feeling of safety.

Security lighting such as floodlights can be activated by sensors such as passive infrared sensors (PIR) turning on when a person(s) or a vehicle if you have a driveway approaches. This will increase both the deterrent effect since the intruder knows that he had been detected and the detection effect of a person(s) will be attracted to the sudden increase in light. Security lighting can be set to operate as a continuous floodlight my means of a switch or photocell sensor which will enable the light to activate when it is dark. PIR activated lamps will usually be incandescent bulbs so they can activate instantly. However energy saving bulbs can be used.

Outdoor security lighting with PIRs (passive infrared sensors) is great for security and safety. Not to mentioned an attractive addition to the home, and because PIR security lights only come on when the motion sensor is activated energy is not wasted.
